AN AMATEUR RADIO CONTROL PACKAGE
FOR THE TS-940S TRANSCEIVER
AND MS-DOS COMPUTERS
The files on this disk or in this archive (ZIP) file make up a package for
remotely controling the Kenwood TS-940S amateur-radio transceiver. All
frequency, mode, memory, and selectivity, and transmit/receive control is
provided by the package. Computer-controlled scanning (both "memory" and
"programmed") are supported. Digital communications provided for by the
package are "duplex": changes made at the transmitter (site) are updated at the
computer (site), and changes made by keyboard do, of course, control the
transceiver, as completely as Kenwood has provided for.
PROGRAM FILES:
Apart from this introductory file (README.TXT), the package contains the
following executable and readable files.
94SPL200.DOC The user's manual for the 940 Spoiler package: the ASCII-format
text is left- and right-justified in 79-character lines for
viewing with a DOS TYPE command, and you may print the manual
using CTL-Print-Screen after approptiately aligning your paper
and selecting the character pitch (1/10th or 12/th inch) for your
printer.
94SPL200.EXE The 940 Spoiler executable system file: this is the main 940
Spoiler program file.
94INS200.EXE The 940 Spoiler installation file, which will be involked by
94SPL200.EXE when the system is run before installation is
completed or which may be used independently of 94SPL200.EXE to
create disk files containing transceiver memory information.
RGSTR940.TXT A description of the "shareware" distribution principles by which
the 940 Spoiler is made possible and a registration form that you
may want to print out for your use in ordering your full-featured
licensed copy of the 940 Spoiler.
VERSHIST.TXT A history of the versions of the 940 Spoiler package.
QSO2000P.TXT A list of amateur-radio software packages offered by the QSO2000
project.
INSTALLATION:
You should simply run 94SPL200.EXE with your transceiver (with an IF-10B
kit installed) appropriately connected to your computer through an IF-232C
interface. The main program will call up 94INS200.EXE to query you about
installation options. After installation, 94INS200 returns you to the main
program. If you have any doubts about what you are doing, you may quell them
by viewing or printing and reading the user's manual, 94SPL200.DOC.
REGISTRATION AND LICENSE:
You are licensed to use this program for one month. Subsequently, you
must register the program for a nominal $39 licensing fee. Registration
provides full-featured software upgrade on diskette and one year of version
upgraded for postage and handling. For details, please view or print the files
RGSTR940.TXT.
QSO2000 PROJECT:
This package is provided to you by the QSO2000 Project, an association of
radio amateurs begun January 1990 for the purpose of creating and distributing
highest-quality communication software at minimal expense to all operators.
